Some apes are known to have advanced brains. For example, chimpanzees are often quoted to be as smart as four year old children. ① Imagine what the four years old can do. They not only recognize their family and friends, but also know how to fear the strangers. They can talk, count, calculate. ② They can paint, read or write certain words; smarter ones can write poetry. ③ Some of them may be able to drive or smoke. They can even lie and hide things. ④ These facts fascinate scholars and scientists who devote their lives to study apes.
問2 This is an application for an address change. Please do not use it to change other personal attributes, as there are separate forms for those. ① Firstly, write down your current phone number. ② Use only block letters and fill in your name and previous address in the cells on the top. Then, write your new address right below the previous one. ③ Do not forget to write your post code as well. ④ Once complete, sign it and bring it to the counter for processing. An available staff will attend you.
問3 It is interesting to observe how people would connect colours to human feelings or sceneries based on their heritage. ① In Japan, seeing red, a lot of people will think of the sun or something hot. It may be associated with anger, too. ② Seeing blue may prompt people to imagine with the sky, the sea, or cause a calm feeling. What about white, then? ③ Do you think young children and old people will think of something totally different from the colour? ④ The feelings or sceneries you imagine may differ from those people from very different cultural backgrounds may think of. What do you think people from Greenland will think when they see pink? Using your imagination like this makes you realise how little you know about different cultures and landscapes.
